Webb EWBANK, 70, well known janitor of Waveland HS died at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 1959 at Culver Hospital where he had been admitted Sunday. He had been ill for several months and seriously ill since Sunday. Born Jan 28, 1889, in Benton County, he was the son of Russell and Cora Liddie Ewbank. He married Maude McConnell Dec 2, 1913 at Fowler. Mr. Ewbank graduated from Oxford HS and attended Purdue. He had lived in Waveland since 1915 and was employed by the Waveland school system as janitor for 20 years. He was a member of the Waveland Methodist Church, Waveland F & AM no. 300 and Russellville Order of Eastern Star 311. Surviving are the widow; one daughter, Mrs. JA Carpenter, Washington DC; 3 sons, Russell, Lakeside, California; Leland and Donald of South Bend; one brother, Amos of Bradenton, Florida; four sisters, Mrs. Roy Buser of New Market; Mrs. Samuel Davis of Rockville; Mrs. Andrew Young of Rochester, NY and Mrs. Ray Bush of Columbus, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral rites were conducted at the Machledt & Servies Funeral Home in Waveland Sunday afternoon with Rev. Phillip Badger officiating. The following were pall bearers and assisted with flowers; Jake Glascock; Clarence Milligan; Dean Cronkhite; Guy Durham; Stewart Curry and Gerald Robison. NR Walker played the organ. Burial was in Maple Ridge Cemetery. kbz -- he was THE best janitor at Waveland school - ever (well, okay, maybe my gpa' was :) but Webb was always looking out for every kid there.
